So the other day, someone said to me that Australia didn’t have suffragettes. I questioned many people and it turns out, as I expected, most people have no idea about the women’s rights movement in Australia, or anywhere else in the world to some extent. We all get taught briefly that Australia was the first country in the world where women were given the right to vote and to be elected to parliament (full Suffrage), but beyond that, our FEMALE HISTORY is hidden away behind the feats of men.
