I made this piece because I want to acknowledge that while we are all different we are, at the same time, all human. It has too often been the case that people who are not white, heterosexual, cisgender, able-bodied, and so on, have been constructed as less-than-human: as less evolved, as failed or incomplete, as freaks or monsters, as in need of fixing, or locking up, or being annihilated. Difference is a source of richness. It should be celebrated rather than feared.
