In late May 2020, as Japan began to reopen following a period of COVID-19 shut downs, a popular theme park released a video outlining their new restrictions to prevent the spread of the disease. The video features two suited and masked park executives riding a hectic roller coaster with notably blank expressions. The aim of the video was to inform park-goers of a new rule banning screaming on rides, with the final message requesting roller coaster riders to ‘please scream inside your heart’ instead.
This phrase was quickly adopted by many online as an unofficial motto of 2020.
